Video Critique
This video explains sustainability in a very thorough and easy way to understand. It emphasis that sustainability has three pillars, especially since it is a global concept, and they all need to be met in order to have a sustainable world. The three pillars are environmental, economic and social.
-
Environmental
-
Focuses on climate, resources, and biodiversity protection
-
Promotes organic food, and to stop using pesticides
-
Use natural resources sparingly, won’t be enough resources
-
e.g. fuel and petrol, future generations will need to have environmentally friendly cars because of our exploitation of fuel
-
-
-
Economy
-
supermarkets should have things found in season in that country
-
fruits arrive by air, transport = lots of pollution
-
-
Social
-
Promotes better education and training, gender equality
-
Fighting against poverty
-
Prosperity for all of humanity
-
e.g. of social instability, factories use water sources that the people need to use, not sustainable because the factory uses all of it while the people have none or it gets so polluted that it can’t be used
